About

Egan Rains

My name is Egan Rains. I am 21 years old and live in East Tennessee, where I work full time as a paramedic. I went straight from high school into first response. At my church, I volunteer as a youth leader, manage the medical response team, serve on the security team, and play piano. I was raised in church and cannot remember a time I did not know the Lord. Service is my calling.

The Weight of Glory and Dust is a series of short essays. I take a quote and write down my thoughts, often on things I am working through in my own life. I write from a place of longing and hope, and I pray my on-page struggle to find glory among the dust helps others find it too.

Shepherding Children in a Digital Babylon grew out of 911 calls I could not forget. I do not have children of my own, but through those calls and my own study, I became hyperaware of the online threats children face. I could not let that knowledge sit without action, and I could not wait for someone else to speak up. Now I lead this workshop for parents, churches, and schools as a biblical call to watchfulness and wisdom, so that parents and the church can keep watch together. There is a battle, and silence is not an option.

If your church, school, or parent group would like me to come, I would be glad to hear from you.
